mOO Darkness...

Well the nights are drawing in.... and people in Cambridge are buying bike lights! (I hope!)
To celebrate this new darkness the good folks at Cambridge Art Salon have been hosting a Halloween festival. There was arts and crafts for kids and a big fancy dress party with spooky sweets on All Hallows Eve! I did try to take some photos but it was just too spooky and dark!
Here is a photo of my contribution to the haunted exhibition:
A New Painting - Three (Tree) Witches

In case you missed that we have some other great exhibitions coming up in the next few weeks.
Louise Pigott's "Spaced Out" Exhibition this coming weekend (5th & 6th November) takes up the darkness theme with some stunning celestial paintings and illustrations
and
Diana Probst's "Drawing Inspiration" the following weekend (12th & 13th November) with all kinds of other excitement!

Not to mention hot off the press - Cambridge Art Salon will be having Christmas Fair!!
Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th December 10am-4pm
Including all kinds of highlights such as Mulled Wine, Mince Pies and even Santa!!

Yes that's right.... it's almost Christmas!!!
Look out for those cyclists!

mOO Seas

~Oh I do like to be beside the seaside~

I've been off on holiday, exploring the south-western delights of olde englande. After seeing quite a lot of ancient stones and possibly slightly less ancient white horses I ended up on the Cornish coast enjoying bracing air and cream teas!

On a holiday theme...

Here are a couple of
"Guess which are real and which are painted?"
collections of sea shells and pebbles from my travels...

Did you spot them?

And whilst I was away...

The Cambridge Evening News was reporting on our gallery opening!

Some of the opening exhibition artwork is still up on display and we also have a shop selling art, bags, pottery and cards etc. Just pop into the Cambridge Art Salon at 29 Cromwell Road on a Tuesday, Saturday or Sunday! Or check out the CAS facebook page for the latest updates!

Whilst you're there you could always "like" the mOOaRT page as well like...;-D

mOO gallery

Exciting events tonight! I've been at the official opening for our new gallery, shop and  not for profit art space at Cambridge Art Salon!!! We've been doing the space up for what seems like months.... and now here it is!

Our opening exhibition features all the artists involved. It's a really interesting mix of different styles with 2D and 3D pieces. I recommend a visit!
The opening exhibition is on this
Saturday 17th, Sunday 18th and Tuesday 20th of September
at
29 Cromwell Road, Cambridge, CB1 3EB

I've been working really hard on a new piece for the show. You can see a picture of it just finished here on twitter: http://twitter.com/#!/mooartdotcom/status/112615919246774272/photo/1

Also here is a cheesy shot of me standing by my work...

Well I'm off on holiday! Catch you all later!

Oh and P.S. the mayor was there!...

mOO people

So this year I mOOved into a new shared studio with lots of interesting artists. We're almost at the point of opening a gallery+shop attached to the studios in our exciting workspace on Cromwell Road in Cambridge.

You can check us out soon at: www.cambridgeartsalon.org.uk

Since we have such a nice space a fellow artist Jenny Kirner has been running drop in portrait drawing sessions which I have managed to attend a few times. It's been really interesting drawing people rather than buildings! Here is a quick picture of some of my portrait sketches at my new studio desk....

And since we're showing off pictures here's a link to my last post and a picture of me behind my Gateshead Flower show stall. This was my third flower show and I really enjoyed it. Great three days meeting lots of geordies!
See you all soon!

mOO angel!

Well I'm fresh off to find some flowers at this year's Gateshead Summer Flower Show! I'll be in the craft tent, you can find a link with all the info here:

Since I was headed to Gateshead I thought I's polish off an idea I had ages ago for a picture of the Gateshead Angel of the North. You can see the finished picture here...

It's a sort-of taking off view with some flying birds and the whole North east on the background. (I did have a a few moments when I wondered why I was drawing every single house on Tyneside!)

The Angel of the North is an Antony Gormley steel sculpture which has apparently been there since 1998! It quickly became a local landmark as can be seen from this excellent demonstration of Geordie Pride..

See you at the flower show folks!
